Sherardizing (diffusion zinc-plating) is suitable for fasteners like screws, screw nuts, forgings and cast parts and it results in a high standard corrosion protection. This procedure offers a higher corrosion resistance than other procedures that work with pure zinc layers.
Even high quality screws and tempered parts like split pins and pressure springs can be sherardized due to the lower process temperature of below 400° Celsius.
The mechanical characteristics of the parts are not affected by this procedure, a hydrogen embrittlement does not occur.
